 Christmas nuts?
« Thread Started on Nov 19, 2005, 8:59pm »

Just gave our rattie a pecan in a shell now that the Christmas nuts are in the stores and he loved it! :-*
He was crunching away for quite a long time. :o

My question is: are all the Christmas nuts okay for ratties to eat in their shells? (almond, those little brown ones that I don't know their name, walnuts and now that I am asking, are pecans okay too?) Haven't seen Brazil nuts in the stores for years but are they okay too? Are they all fattening like peanuts and sunflower seeds? Is it okay to leave in the cage or just out of their cage when we are there to supervise?

I don't see any reason why not, but I'm not the most expert opinion. Just as long as it's in moderation.

Macaws can crack brazil nuts with their beak :o Ouch...
