Christmas nuts? « Result #3 on Nov 19, 2005, 8:59pm »
Just gave our rattie a pecan in a shell now that the Christmas nuts are in the stores and he loved it! He was crunching away for quite a long time.
My question is: are all the Christmas nuts okay for ratties to eat in their shells? (almond, those little brown ones that I don't know their name, walnuts and now that I am asking, are pecans okay too?) Haven't seen Brazil nuts in the stores for years but are they okay too? Are they all fattening like peanuts and sunflower seeds? Is it okay to leave in the cage or just out of their cage when we are there to supervise?

LMAO!!!
Well... let me see... Ebony - She likes to do the same thing as your Ben, grab at me to say "don't leave?!" lol She will on purpose walk on the edge of anything to scare me. She usually does it when i'm just going to get a drink and come back.
Precious - She doesn't really like to be picked up much, but absolutely loves to give everyone she can a good grooming of the mouth. Sort of a snobby rat a bit as she doesn't like to get wet much and uses her paw as a spoon to eat her baby cereal..soo cute!
Joker - I'm not sure if he likes it or not, but he'll back-up when i pet him but come back to me after for more lol He's eligible to be a big squish but he's not very cuddly with me. Although i insist so he's slowly becoming one.
Spike - He loves to come to me for massages, i'll put my hands around him and rub his back, sides and tummy and he just melts into my hands for 2min. He also is the one that likes to play chase games with me, and is definetly an explorer- escaped out of the cage and took a stroll around the house a few times. Had me freaking out but always comes back, thankfully! Spike also likes to be a negociator and gets in the middle between Joker and Bob when things get tough.
Bob- There's not much i can say about Bob as he doesn't explore much like the others, not very cuddly but he does have strong legs for a rat with no tail. He's my jumper rat - leaped from the back of my chair to the cage door, it was about a foot and 1/4 far apart. I heard a thud and thought oh know but when i looked he was looking at me like "Its alright, i made it here safely"
Ben and Beany's funny quirks « Result #5 on Aug 12, 2005, 12:54pm »
Ben is a riot! He spent nearly 10 minutes a couple nights ago trying to nibble on my sister's lips! He loves nibbling on people's faces, their cheeks and lips mostly. It's so adorable. Ben also won't let anyone leave his presence during play time. Whenever you get up, he grabs your pant leg as if to pull you back down. He's so energetic, much more energetic that I remember any of my past rat's being. Beany is a little more timid, so he doesn't play games like hand chase and he doesn't enjoy being tickled as much as Benny does. But he reminds me of my first rat, Roddy because he's such a criminal mastermind. He'll do anything to get past me so that he can rummage around in the box by my bed. He even tries to push me out of the way with his little paws! My boy's crack me up! What funny things do your rat's do?

Re: rattie nails « Result #7 on Aug 3, 2005, 3:28pm »
They need clipping when you end up covered in scratch marks after cuddling xD. Yes, they do need to be trimmed. My boys didn't need it until they were almost a year old. Jynx's ok with it, but Fil is horrible! I've never tried the brick thing, but they did have a rock in their litter box and that helped a little.

I have read that rattie nails need to be trimmed. I have a brick under the water bottle [as I also read that keeps the nails down]. My rattie is now 6 months old but he seems to be fine with his nails. How can you tell that they need clipping? I am hoping I never have to do it!
Re: Your other pets, besides rats,whattya got? « Result #10 on Jul 14, 2005, 12:34pm »
Other than my 2 hairless ratties, I have 3 cats.
Levi: A grey tabby cat, 3 years old this July. He runs my house and is a total bully. <3 Hes sweet though...when hes not being obnoxious..which is pretty much never.... lol
Sassy: A pure white cat who is 10 years old. He'll 11 this year. Hes like a teddy bear and seems to be becoming more and more like a dog as he ages. Hes super fat and loves to lay on people's faces.
Bee: A black tabby cat (Shes like an agouti rat! The bottoms of her hair are white, the middle is grey and the tips are black). Shes 8 years old and is the Levi's arch nemisis. Shes thinks shes all that but is a big sucker for cuddles. She also likes to lick the inside of people's ears....she likes to eat ear wax..
